This page says what Luxewell collects when you use luxewell.com or order a Home Baseline, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and how to reach us about it. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
What we collect, and why
- When you sign up to hear when orders open: your name, email, ZIP code and how many rooms you would like measured. We use them to write to you about the Home Baseline and to plan where the first boxes go.
- When you use a form on the site (the Healthy Home Quiz, a building inquiry, the Heartwood list): your name, email and what the form asks. Quiz answers are used to send you your score and next steps, and sign-ups on those forms may also receive occasional Luxewell updates.
- When you have an account: your email, and the name, phone number and shipping address you give at checkout. We use them to sign you in, ship your box, have the laboratory send your water test, and write to you about your order.
- When you set up your cases: the photos you upload of each open case in its room, and the names you give your rooms. A person at Luxewell looks at the photos to check placement before your week begins. When you upload a setup photograph, an automated image-analysis service checks the placement so we can give you instant feedback. It receives only the photograph and the room name, a person at Luxewell still reviews every photograph, and our provider's terms do not allow it to train its models on these photographs.
- During your measurement week: the readings the instruments record in each room (carbon dioxide, fine particles, temperature, humidity, light over time, which we report as when each room is lit and dark, and sound level) and your water results from the laboratory. The instruments do not record speech, take pictures or record location, and they do not connect to your network.
- When you pay: your card is handled by our payment processor. We keep a reference to it so we can make the charge you agreed to when you ordered and the other charges the agreements describe. We never see or store the full card number.
- When you accept the agreements: the date and time, your IP address and your browser details, kept with the exact wording you agreed to, as the record of what you accepted.
Who helps us handle it
We use a small number of companies to run the service, and each receives only what its part needs: our website host and database provider (which store your account, photos, readings and reports), our payment processor, our shipping software and the carriers that deliver and collect your box, the laboratory that tests your water sample, the service that sends our emails, the image-analysis service that checks your setup photographs, Google, which runs the forms on our older pages and serves the fonts those pages use, and the image services that host some of the photographs on our pages. Loading a page asks those services for its images, which tells them your IP address, as any website does.
The laboratory that tests your water
Your water test comes straight from an independent laboratory, in its own box, and you send your sample straight back to it. To do that, the laboratory receives:
- your name and the address your water test ships to;
- Luxewell's phone number, not yours, for its shipping label;
- a Luxewell order reference, which may be printed on the kit;
- your water sample, and which tests you ordered for it;
- if you give them to us, details about the sample: when you filled it, which tap, whether the tap has a filter or softener, and whether your water comes from a city system or a well.
It does not receive your email address or your phone number from us. The kit, its box and its instructions carry the laboratory's own name. The laboratory keeps its own record of what it received and of your results, and sends the results to us for your report.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to return you to the page you were on after you sign in. We do not use advertising cookies.
Your report and your readings
Your report and the readings behind it are yours. We use them to write your report, to compare a later measurement with an earlier one if you order one, and to check and improve our methods. We do not publish anything that identifies you or your home.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing jared@luxewell.com. If you ask us to delete your information, we pass the request to the laboratory that tested your water as well. Some records, such as those tied to a payment, we may need to keep for as long as the law requires. To stop our occasional emails, use the link in any of them or reply and ask; you will still hear from us about an order you have placed.
Children
The site and the Home Baseline are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
